Effective Date: July 7, 2026
This policy covers the RECAM apps for iOS and Android, and the recam.tv website.
The Short Version
Your privacy is critically important to us — so here is the honest version, with no fine print.
What we can never see: what your camera sees and hears. Every live stream and every recording is end-to-end encrypted on your own device before it leaves it, and only your own devices can open it. We never keep a copy in the cloud, and the AI that spots a person, pet or sound runs entirely on your device.
What we do collect: enough to run the app, keep it stable, and process a subscription. A pseudonymous account ID, your camera names and settings, crash and usage data, a push token for your alerts, and your subscription status. No ads. Nothing sold. No third party buying its way into your home. Below is every single thing we collect, who helps us process it, and why.
Who We Are
RECAM is built and operated by FRENCHMOB SAS, a company registered in France. For everything described in this policy — including any privacy request — FRENCHMOB SAS is the data controller, and you can reach us at hi@recam.tv.
How Your Video Stays Private
This is the whole point of RECAM, so here is exactly how it works.
- End-to-end encrypted. Your camera encrypts every stream (Secure Reliable Transport protocol) before it leaves the device. Only your own devices can open it.
- Direct when it can be. When your network allows, video goes straight from your camera to your viewer.
- A blind relay when it can't. On cellular, behind a strict router, or through CGNAT, the stream passes through a relay FRENCHMOB operates. It forwards encrypted packets it cannot decrypt, does not store, and keeps no logs of.
- No cloud recording, ever. We never keep a copy of your footage. Recordings stay on your own devices — and, on iPhone, in your own iCloud if you enable it, encrypted by RECAM so we still can't see it.
- On-device AI. Detecting a person, pet, covered face, or sound happens on your device. Those decisions never leave it.
Neither FRENCHMOB nor anyone at RECAM can watch your cameras — not because we promise not to, but because the encryption makes it impossible.
AI Features and Alerts
RECAM's on-device AI includes human and animal detection, facial coverage detection (e.g. nose/mouth), and sound analysis (e.g. baby crying, glass breaking). These features are supportive tools, not guarantees of accuracy or safety. False positives and missed events may occur, and RECAM is not a medical device or a substitute for adult supervision. Use is at your own risk.
How We Make Money
You pay us. That's the entire business model. RECAM is funded by its Pro subscription — we don't show you ads, we don't sell your data, and we don't monetize your footage. We have never sold personal data and never will.
What We Collect — and Why
We collect the least we can while still shipping a stable app you can pay for. Here is all of it.
Data we hold ourselves
- A pseudonymous account ID — a random string that lets your devices find each other and sync settings. It's not your name and not your email; no account sign-up is required to use RECAM.
- Camera names, labels, and app settings — so your setup looks the same on every device.
- Your subscription status — free plan or Pro, so we unlock the right features.
- A push notification token — the address Apple or Google uses to deliver your alerts.
- Your email — only if you give it to us. We ask in exactly one place: the waitlist for features still in development. Skip the waitlist and we never have it.
Services that help us run RECAM
We rely on a short list of trusted providers. Each one gets only what it needs — and none of them get your video or audio.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — aggregate usage events, like which screens get used, so we know what to improve. Privacy details
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google) — crash reports and diagnostics so we can fix what breaks. Privacy details
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) — delivers your push notifications. Privacy details
- AppsFlyer — tells us which link or ad led you to install, so we know what's working. It reads your device's advertising identifier (more below). Privacy details
- RevenueCat — keeps your subscription status in sync across devices. Privacy details
- Apple App Store / Google Play — process your payment. Your card never touches our systems; we only ever see that a purchase succeeded.
Your advertising identifier
On Android and iOS, AppsFlyer reads your device's advertising ID to measure which campaigns bring people to RECAM. We use it for attribution and analytics only — we never serve you ads, and we never sell it. You can reset or limit it any time in your device settings. (On iOS this only happens if you allow tracking when we ask.)
On our website
recam.tv uses Google Analytics and Cloudflare Insights (cookieless) to count visits and see which pages help people decide. That's the website, not the app — standard, aggregate measurement, with no profile built about you.
Some of these providers process data in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it does so under appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How Long We Keep It
- Account data (ID, camera names, settings, subscription status): as long as your account is active. Ask us to delete it and it's gone.
- Crash and usage data: kept only as long as it's useful for debugging, then deleted on our providers' standard schedules (crash logs, for example, roll off after about 90 days).
- Waitlist email: until we launch the feature or you ask us to remove it.
- Payment records: retained by Apple and Google under their own legal obligations.
Delete Your Data
Changed your mind? You can have everything we hold about you erased.
Email hi@recam.tv and ask us to delete your data. We'll wipe your account record, camera names, settings, and subscription reference from our systems within 30 days, and confirm when it's done.
Two honest notes:
- Your video and recordings were never ours to delete — they live on your own devices (and your own iCloud). Delete the app or clear them there, and they're gone.
- A little data has to linger: payment receipts that Apple and Google keep for their own legal reasons, and anonymized crash logs that no longer point to you.
Your Privacy Rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show, correct, export, or delete the data we hold about you, and to object to or limit how we use it. Email hi@recam.tv and we'll take care of it — free, within 30 days.
- In the EU/EEA (GDPR): these are your legal rights, and if we don't resolve things you can complain to your data protection authority. In France, that's the CNIL.
- In California (CCPA): we do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
Children's Privacy
RECAM isn't designed for or directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Plenty of people point a RECAM camera at a crib — that's one of the reasons it exists. But the app is set up and run by you, the parent or guardian. The baby on screen isn't a user, and nothing about them is collected: the video is end-to-end encrypted and never reaches us. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email hi@recam.tv and we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes get a heads-up in the app.
